Freedom is closer than you think….
There is a prison without walls. You may be there now as both a prisoner and a thief. You may think you’re not a thief, but, if you only knew how much you’ve stolen from yourself – addictions have robbed you of happiness, life, freedom, and so much more. You may think you are free, but you are shackled and chained – addictions have made your world so small. But thankfully, there is a key within easy reach.
You were created to be free – to experience life to the fullest. You were created in God’s own image and He made you magnificent. He gave you eyes to see His marvelous creation. He gave you ears to hear the beautiful sounds of nature. God created you to feel love and joy and experience all that was intended for you. You were not made to just exist, but to have an abundant life. God has a perfect plan for you.
If God’s plan is for you to be free, why create your own bondage? You have bound yourself through your thoughts and actions. You may think you are free, but you aren’t free if your life revolves around your next fix. You can’t freely love others if your first love is your addiction. You are not mentally or physically available to those who love you if your commitment and priority is to your addiction. You aren’t free to have nice things if your money is wasted on your next fix. You aren’t free to have good health if your addiction is destroying your body. You aren’t free to live if you are in bondage to your addiction.
You Hold The Key
Right now you may be homeless, addicted, no job, no transportation, with no family support. If you think back to the start, you can connect the dots to where you are now. Your current circumstances are the direct response to your thoughts. Your thoughts created actions. Your actions created results.
The same way that you created your bondage, you can create your freedom. The key to your freedom is your thoughts. It is proven by science and psychology that you are what you think. What you think and believe gets planted into your subconscious mind. It is your subconscious mind that controls your actions. The same key that locked your prison doors, is the same key that can set you free and enable you to lead a rich, abundant life.
What God Says About Our Thoughts
You are what you think. This is one of God’s laws and its simplicity is so amazing and wonderful. By choosing new thoughts and believing these new positive thoughts, you will change your future. God teaches this all throughout the Bible. Here is just some of what God says about it.
- Be made new in the attitude of your minds. Eph 4:23
- Above all, be careful what you think because your thoughts control your life. Prov 4:23 (ERV)
- As a man thinketh in his heart so he is. Prov 23:7
- Set your minds and keep them set on what is above. Col 3:2
- Do not be conformed to this world…but be transformed by the renewal of your mind… Rom 12:2
- Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. Rom 8:5-6
- Ask, and it shall be given you; seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you. Matt 7:7
- Let it be done just as you believed. Matt 8:13
- Everything is possible for one who believes. Mark 9:23
- Now faith is the confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. Heb 11:1-3
- If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’, and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. Matt 17:20
- …your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from suffering. Mark 5:34
- Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Gal 6:7
- Take captive everything thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Cor 10:5
3 Steps to Freedom:
Step 1. Admit how you got here.
Your thoughts created your actions which created your results. Your thoughts are the sole cause of your current life and only you can change it. If you change your thoughts, it will be impossible for your life not to change. Just as your past thoughts made it impossible for you not to end up where you are right now.
Step 2. Decide how you want to live and believe that it is already yours.
Write down exactly how you want your life to be – this is your end goal. What job will you have? What house will you have? What will your relationships be like? What vacations will you take? What car will you drive? How will you help others? Read this several times a day and believe it. Live like you have already reached your end goal. Think big!
Your subconscious mind is like a garden. The same laws apply to your mind as they do to nature. Just as an acorn, once planted, will become an oak tree, the thoughts you plant in your subconscious mind will produce that which you plant.
Think about the bad seeds (negative thoughts) that you have planted, such as “I am a failure”, “I can’t quit my addiction”, “I am rejected”, “I am a disappointment”. All of these bad thoughts, by universal law, came to pass. This is how you created your current circumstances. Start creating new circumstances right now by changing your thoughts, such as, “I am free, happy, loved, and abundant in all good things”, “I am blessed and I am a blessing to others”, “My days are filled with peace, joy, and harmony”. Reject all negative thoughts and replace them with positive thoughts in line with your end goal. Whatever is true, honorable, and just, think on these things.
Step 3. Take Action. You must act. You have to start somewhere. You don’t need to know how to get there, you just have to start. Keep the vision of your end goals and take baby steps. Life is like a GPS system. You program your destination (end goal) and start driving. If you don’t start driving, the directions will never appear. You may take wrong turns, but you will get redirected, over and over until you reach your destination. But you have to start.
A great place to start would be to contact your local church or hospital and ask for help. Change your environment and develop new friendships. Surround yourself with people that have reached the goals you want to reach.
Choose The Good Ones!
You create an abundant life by thinking good thoughts, rejecting the bad thoughts, and believing. The seeds you plant in your subconscious mind will create the actions that will lead you to freedom and an abundant life. If you continue to plant negative, self-destructive thoughts, you will continue to get the results you are currently getting. But if you plant thoughts of a beautiful life that you were meant to live, and believe, you will achieve it. By your results it will be obvious what seeds you are planting. You choose your life by choosing your thoughts, so choose the good ones.
Freedom and abundance is waiting for you.
Sincerely,
Your Friend
